Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of REDISS Net (“REDISS”, the “Service”), available at www.rediss.net and through its mobile application. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

REDISS Net is a platform for reliable, evidence-based discussion. It provides moderated discussion threads, community voting, trust scoring and related features. The Service is operated by Prof. Dr. Hermann Maurer and Dr. Bilal Zaka (the “Operators”).

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
• Accounts are created using Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

3. Acceptable use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• post unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing or threatening content;
• knowingly post false or misleading information or disinformation;
• infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
• upload malware or attempt to disrupt, attack or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
• use the Service to spam, advertise or manipulate votes or trust scores.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create. By posting content, you grant REDISS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You are solely responsible for the content you post and confirm that you have the rights to share it.

5. Moderation and enforcement

To keep discussions trustworthy, we may review, hide, edit or remove content, and may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Community signals (such as reports and votes) and trust scoring may affect the visibility of content. Moderation decisions are made at our reasonable discretion.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its name, logo, design and software, is owned by the Operators or their licensors and is protected by applicable laws. Except for your own content, you may not copy, modify or distribute any part of the Service without permission.

7. Third-party services and links

The Service relies on third-party services (such as Google for sign-in) and may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party services.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that any content posted by users is accurate, complete or reliable.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Operators from any claims, damages or expenses arising from your content or your breach of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or where required by law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Austria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The “Last updated” date above indicates when these Terms were last revised.
